International Symposium on Metallomics 2007 (ISM 2007)

Nagoya City is located in the central part of Japan with a population of 2.2 million.  The Congress Center is located near the downtown area of Nagoya City, and is easily accessed from the Centrair Airport (Central Japana International Airport).  From Tokyo or Osaka, the Superexpress train (Shin-kansen) are available to transfer to Nagoya through the Narita/Tokyo or Kansai/Osaka International Airport, as will be explained later.

Around Nagoya City, we have TOYOTA and HONDA Automobile Companies as well as many other industry companies.  This area, called “Tokai area”, is also famous in ceramics production, including electronics devices, china and potteries.

Inside Nagoya City, we have also many attraction places, such as Nagoya Castle, Tokugawa Art Museum, Toyota Automobile Museum, Higashi-yama Zoo, Nagoya-port Aquarium and so forth. During the symposium, you may have chances to visit these attraction places.

Climate:

The climate in the end of November and the beginning of December around Nagoya area is temperate mostly with clear sky.  Temperature of this season is usually between 15-20°C, but often below 15°C.

Access:

 The most convenient way to access to Nagoya City is to arrive at the Centrair Airport (Central Japan International Airport) near Nagoya.  Most international airlines are available in the Centrair Airport, but some of them are not everyday available.  In such cases, it is recommended to arrive at the Narita/Tokyo International Airport or Kansai/Osaka International Airport.

From Centrair Airport (http://www.centrair.jp/en/):

 It is convenient to take the Rapid Limited Express train of the Meitetsu Line to come directly to the Kanayama Station or the Nagoya Station.  From these stations, you can go easily to the hotels for accommodation.

From Narita/Tokyo International Airport (http://www.narita-airport.jp/en/index.html):

Go by the Narita Express train or the limousine bus from the Narita Airport to the Tokyo Station (about 1 hr), and then take the Shin-kansen Superexpress train from the Tokyo Station to the Nagoya Station (about 1hr 50 min).

From Kansai/Osaka International Airport(http://www.kansai-airport.or.jp/en/index.asp):

 Go by “Haruka Express train” from the Kansai International Airport to Shin-Osaka Station (about 1 hr), and then take the Shin-kansen Superexpress train from the Shin-Osaka Station to the Nagoya Station (about 50 min).
